Mijn naam is Jouke Douwe de Vries. In het dagelijks leven ben ik burgemeester van de gemeente Achtkarspelen. In mijn vrije tijd schrijf ik mijn eigen liedjes. Yn de jierren ’80 bin ik begûn mei it skriuwen fan myn eigen ferskes. Earst yn it Ingelsk, letter ek yn it Nederlânsk en Frysk. Ik sjong and begelied mysels op piano en gitaar. Mei myn drokke baan as boargemaster haw ik gjin tiid mear om op te treden, mar opnimme slagget wol. Myn lieten nim ik op yn myn eigen studio. Ik nim dêrby alle instruminten en ek de produksje foar myn rekken. Myn ferskes binnen te beharkjen op Spotify, Apple Music en YouTube.
In the 1980s I started writing my own songs. Initially in English, later also in Dutch and Frisian. I’m a singer and I play the piano and the guitar. With my busy job as the mayor of the municipality of Achtkarspelen I don’t have time to perform anymore, but I do find time to record. I record my songs in myn own studio. In de jaren ’80 ben ik begonnen met het schrijven van mijn eigen liedjes. Eerst in het Engels, later ook in het Nederlands en Fries. Ik zing en begeleid mezelf op piano en gitaar. Met mijn drukke baan als burgemeester heb ik geen tijd meer om op te treden, maar opnemen lukt wel. Mijn liedjes neem ik op in mijn eigen studio. Ik neem daarbij alle instrumenten en ook de productie voor mijn rekening. Je kunt mijn liedjes beluisteren op Spotify, Apple Music en YouTube.
In the fall of 2023 I put forty of my earlier songs online. I published them on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. Since then I have been releasing more songs regularly. I started out with some Christmas songs in the winter of 2023. 2024 saw the release of my Dutch EP ‘Een Nieuwe Jas’ and in 2025 I published some new Frisian songs. And there is more the come, so follow me!
